Sue Henke, 85, of Panama, passed away at 6:40 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at her residence.

Sue was born March 26, 1933 in Clarence, MO, the daughter of James and Alma (Sisk) Sportsman.  She married Norton Henke on November 17, 1951 in Hillsboro, IL.

Sue graduated from Hillsboro High School.  She was formerly employed by Hillsboro Glass Factory, Roller Derby, and the bakery in Granite City, but spent most of her adult life as a homemaker.  Sue was a long-time member of the Panama United Methodist Church, and the Donnellson, IL Order of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed BINGO, Bunco, grocery shopping, and playing cards with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robby Henke; and granddaughter, Jodi Sue Cox.

Sue is survived by her husband, Norton Henke of Panama, IL; children, Reggie Henke of Panama, IL, Kathy (husband, Darvin) Hamby of Effingham, IL, and Linda (husband, David) Kindernay of Panama, IL; grandchildren, Tracie Smith of Litchfield, IL, Amie (husband, Eric) Roach of Hillsboro, IL, Andy (wife, Elise) Kindernay of Hillsboro, IL, Robby (wife, Jenny) Kindernay of Georgia, and Kimi (husband, Bob) Dust of Effingham, IL; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Pat McGee of Florida, Robby (wife, Linda) Sportsman of Florida, Sandy Lawson of Carlinville, IL, and Buddy (wife, Amelia) Sportsman of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be accorded prior to ceremonies.

Visitation & Memorial Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Panama United Methodist Church, 203 Cleveland Ave., Panama, IL 62077, with Rev. Frank Loskot, Jr. officiating.

Inurnment will be scheduled at Panama Union Cemetery in Panama, IL at a later date.
