Wanda Blount, 93, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

Wanda was born October 4, 1925 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of William and Nellie (Patterson) Vidmar.  She married Charles Russell “Shorty” Blount on October 31, 1945 in Taylorville, IL.  He preceded her in death on August 27, 1998.

Wanda graduated from Taylorville High School in 1943.  In her younger years, she worked for H & R Block, Piggly Wiggly, and the ammunition plant in Illiopolis, IL.  For most of her life, she was a home maker, working the farm with her husband, and raising her children.  Wanda enjoyed, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and a good card game.  She was also crafty, enjoying crocheting.  Wanda was a great cook, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a past Cub Scout Leader, and a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Doug Blount; great grandson, Evan Blount; daughter-in-law, Lorna K. Blount; brothers, Bill (Irene), Don (Sidney), Myron, and John (Judy) Vidmar; and sister, Jean (Turk) Smith.

Wanda is survived by her son, Charles Alan Blount of Morrisonville, IL; daughter, Peggy Blount of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Loren (Vicki) Blount of Morrisonville, IL, Dyanne (Lee) Skinner of Taylorville, IL, Travis Blount-Elliott of Virginia, and Heather Blount-Elliott of California; great grandchildren, Hannah (Joe) Van Dorn, Trey and Kole Buckley, and Abigail and Aaron Blount; great-great granddaughter, River Emerald Van Dorn; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 9:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 111 North St., Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating.

Interment will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery.  

Memorial Contributions may be made to: First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville, 111 North St., Morrisonville, IL 62546.  Donations of food may be brought to the church Thursday morning.
