Camille Whitney, 94, of Osprey, Florida, formerly of Taylorville, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Osprey, FL.

She was born September 23, 1914, in Taylorville, the daughter of Nat and Ann McMahon McFadden. She married James Pliny Whitney II in 1938; he died in 1982. She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1932 and received her B.S. degree from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO, in 1936. She was a member of St. Vincent Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, eventually serving as its head. Her volunteer work included years of service with the Red Cross Blood Bank as staff and director. She was a member of the Davis Memorial Christian Church, Taylorville, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship and served as Elder and Elder Emeritus for a number of years and was a Girl Scout leader.

Surviving are her son, David M. (wife Joan) Whitney of Osprey, FL; grandson, James P. (wife Rebecca Ann) Whitney III of Nokomis, FL; great-grandchildren: Issac M., Lucy C., Hannah M., Samuel F. and John H. Whitney; and cousin, Jill Colquhoun Bucelluni of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, in Davis Memorial Christian Church, with Rev. Lonnie Southern officiating. Private family burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Tuesday, March 24, in the church. Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
