Dorothy Eileen (Dixon) Sexton, 95, of Carlinville, formerly of Pawnee and Taylorville, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2020 at Heritage Health in Carlinville.
Dorothy was born June 16, 1924 in Pawnee, the daughter of Mack and Willie (Carver) Dixon. She married Franklin D. Sexton on July 19, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Springfield. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2006.
Dorothy graduated from Pawnee High School in 1942. She went on to work for the Illinois Department of Public Health from 1943 until her retirement in 1983. Dorothy was a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, and she was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Haslemere Chapter 221 in Taylorville.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-daughter, Sandra Clark; and sister, Jane Manning.
Dorothy is survived by her step-son, Dean (wife, Wendy) Sexton of Plainview; step-son-in-law, Steve Clark of Brazil, IN; grandchildren, Dustin (wife, Christine) Sexton of Marine, Sean Clark of Brazil, IN, Scot (wife, Stacey) Clark of Indianapolis, IN, and Karen (husband, Josh) Eaves of Plainview; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Max (wife, Julie) Dixon of Pawnee; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside ceremonies will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
