Services for Elmer Marshall White, 78, a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Beecher City, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home, Taylorville, the Rev. Brett White officiating. Burial for the Taylorville resident will follow at Bethel Cemetery in rural Sharpsburg.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. White, a U.S. Navy veteran, died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home.

The son of the late William Cleveland and Iola (Belle) White, he was born June 23, 1931, at Coffeen. He served in the Air National Guard from 1956 to 1985 before retiring. He then was employed with CF Industries in Cowden for several years. He raised cattle on his farm in Beecher City.

Mr. White and Mary Ann Miller married and later divorced. An infant son, Bradley Warren White, and seven brothers preceded Mr. White in death.

He leaves two sons, Brion White (Barbie White) of Taylorville and Brett (wife Linda) White of Troy, MO; one daughter, Brenda (husband Doug) Peden of Taylorville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Stewart of Mulberry Grove.
