Services for Joseph "Joe" M. Kessinger, 89, of Walshville, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at Perfetti Funeral Home, Sorento, with burial there at Sunnyside Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Revisky will officiate. Military honors will be provided by Mulberry Grove American Legion Post 1180.

Family will receive friends Monday from to 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Masonic rites at 7:45 p.m.

Mr. Kessinger, a lifelong farmer in the Walshville area, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Litchfield HealthCare Center.

Son of the late Percy and Viola (Pence) Kessinger, he was born May 26, 1920, at Reno. He was a veteran of the Army having served in the horse cavalry during World War II. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge 51, ATA in Mt. Olive, Ansar Shrine, and Kessinger American Legion Post 713. He was a past commander of the Panama VFW Post 6628.

Mr. Kessinger and Margaret "Peg" Gilbert married July 19, 1953, at Walshville, and she survives.

He leaves a son, Daniel Ray (wife Paula) Kessinger of Walshville; one daughter, Dee Dee (husband Jeff) Seabaugh of Walshville; grandchildren, Michelle Leverone, Erik, Nick, Danielle, Joey and David Seabaugh, Kayla and Amber Spensberger and Erin Kessinger; great-grandchildren, Lexie, Kyle and Ella Seabaugh; and one brother, Ray (wife Nancy) Kessinger of Bradenton, FL.

Preceding him in death were a son, David Joe Kessinger; a sister, Hazel Jarman; and a stepdaughter, Sandy Leverone.
