Melvin Edgar “Bill” Skinner, 72, of Morrisonville, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Perfetti Funeral Home, Morrisonville. The Rev. Chad Foster will officiate. Burial will be at Harpers Ferry Cemetery, Palmer.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Skinner was born April 24, 1937, at Hillsboro, son of the late Harold and Ruth (Oller) Skinner. He was employed at Palmer Elevator and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morrisonville.

He married Frieda Slusser, and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Skinner leaves four sons, William Skinner and Charles Patty of Morrisonville, Kevin (wife Ann) Skinner of Marietta, CA, and Kenneth Patty of Covington, IN; seven daughters, Beth (husband Michael) Plopper of Palmer, Darlene McCauley and Mary Miller of Morrisonville, Nancy Patty of Minneapolis, MN, Carol Miller of Carrolton, and Barbara Miller and Lisa Miller of Taylorville.

Also surviving are many grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Alberta (husband Charles) Delahunt and Sheila Skinner of Taylorville, Sue Hendricks of Black Diamond, WA, Mary (husband Gene) Grandfield of Blue Mound, and Clarissa (husband William) Hartman of Lincoln; and brothers, Larry (wife Daisy) Skinner of Arkansas, Jim (wife Marilyn) Skinner and Don (wife Brenda) Skinner of Morrisonville.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Esther Woodkirk and Ruby Helms; two sisters in infancy, Betty and Brenda Skinner; three brothers, Sherman, Earl and Clifford Skinner; and one daughter, Joyce Patty.
