Patti Irwin

Patti Irwin, 64, of Taylorville, passed away at 6:52 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Patti was born April 8, 1956 in Taylorville, the daughter of Kenneth Whitsett and Janice Keigley.  She attended Stonington schools, and graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1974.  Patti worked for many retail stores and restaurants, including Wal-Mart in Taylorville, as well as for Borg Warner in Decatur. She loved to crochet, and she used her talents to create hats for premature babies to wear in the hospital.  Patti had an adventurous spirit, and she enjoyed traveling all over the country.  She also had a passion for Native American art, wind chimes, and mermaid art.  Patti will be remembered for being a considerate and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Patti is survived by her mother, Janice L. Brown of Taylorville; sons, Jonathan (Jackie) Irwin of Springfield, and Jeffrey (Kacy) Irwin of Pesotum; grandchildren, Mathew, Jaycen, Desiree, Devin, Mary, and Brody Irwin, Haley Whitsel, Lauren O’Neal, Jonathan Mitchell, Kelsey Jenkins, Kayla and Josie Davis, and William Jones; siblings, Renaye Ferguson of Taylorville, Gregory (Regina) Whitsett of Chesterfield, VA, and Julie (Drew) Sincavage of Taylorville; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Jasmine.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville.  In keeping with CDC guidelines, only ten guests at a time will be allowed to visit with the family, and the family has asked that all guests please wear a mask.

Private family burial will be held at Cudgetown Cemetery in Du Quoin.
