Richard Allen Hubbard, 75, of Forsyth, passed into eternity on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Villa Clara Nursing and Rehabilitation in Decatur.

Allen, known by many of his friends as “Sam”, was born April 5, 1945 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, the son of Wilbur and Katherine (Cockrahan) Hubbard, Sr.  He worked for Bill Hager, assisting with auctions, yard work, and numerous other jobs until Bill passed into eternity.  Allen then continued doing odd jobs, and providing handyman services for others in the community. He resided at Park Glen in Taylorville until 2013, when he moved to Decatur to be closer to his sister, Sharon. Allen lived in Belvedere Centre Plaza for two years, before moving to Hickory Point in Forsyth, where he resided until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great grandmother, Minnie Spears; grandmother, Mary Cockrahan; aunts, Hattie Duffy and Bea Mitchel; brother, Wilbur Hubbard, Jr.; and nephew, C.J. Hubbard.

Surviving Allen to cherish his memories are his sister, Sharon L. (Hubbard) Willis of Forsyth; brother, Carl Hubbard of Taylorville; cousin, Sheila of Las Vegas, NV; nephews, Anthony of Hillsboro, Norman of TX, and Reginald Jr. of MD; nieces, Angela and Cori, both of MD, and Candy of TX; second cousins who called him “Uncle Allen”, Thuron (Angel), Little Thomas, and Julian of Harvey, and Missy (Raymond), Roz, Dymond, and Dezmond, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony:  The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with Rev. Tiney Walker officiating.

Interment will follow the ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all those who called, sent cards, and expressed their condolences. They would also like to thank Leslie Evey, and Marina Neufield for their help in keeping the family informed of Allen’s condition during his illness.  Sharon L. Willis would like to express her deepest appreciation to Rev. Tiney Walker for always being there for her and the Hubbard family.  Thank you, Rev. Walker!
